Dancehall 2 Gengetone Showcase

East Africa meets Kingston in this ‘Dancehall 2 Gengetone’ showcase event for Kilele Summit x Umojah Sound System. Kilele is a celebration of adventurous music and culture happening annually in Kenya’s capital, and driving this residency project. Fresh from a take over of Open Ground in Wuppertal and Karneval der Kultur in Berlin, the project is now back home and hosting Jamaica’s own Gavsborg for the first time in East Africa. Supported by the Goethe-Institut’s International Collaboration Fund, the project connects Nairobi’s gengetone sound to the mutant strains of Gavsborg’s Kingston / Berlin dancehall hybrid. SnSe and Rafiiki will present their Arif project followed by DJ sets under their respective aliases. Supported by Bizi Bingi, Nile Dawta (Live), Sisian (Live) and Umojah Selektas Takeover, this is as good as it gets.
