Unseen Nairobi Presents FAYA DAYI

Unseen Nairobi is excited to welcome Jessica Beshir for an in-person Q&A and screening of her stunning film, FAYA DAYI (2021). The film is a spiritual journey into the highlands of Harar, immersed in the rituals of khat, a leaf Sufi Muslims chewed for centuries in religious meditations and Ethiopia’s most lucrative cash crop today. It presents a tapestry of intimate stories offering a window into the dreams of youth under a repressive regime. The event will be moderated by filmmaker, curator, and essayist, Wanjeri Gakuru.
